Faith Formation & Sacramental Preparation Ministries

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori-based Faith Formation program for children 3-12 years old.  Level 1 serves children ages 3-6. Level 2 serves children ages 6-9. Level 3 serves children 9-12. Our atrium sessions meet at various times, both morning and afternoon on weekdays and Sundays. Volunteers are needed as catechists and assistants. The time commitment each week is 2 hours. Please contact Connie Moretti, conniem@hfkparish.org.

Confirmation Team – Youth Our Confirmation preparation hits the basics of our Catholic faith, and aims to engage families in faith based conversations.  We rely on sponsor/candidate learning and focus on providing opportunities for growth in faith and deeper relationships within this parish community.  Helping prepare for sessions, tracking sign in and paperwork, or giving talks are all places where volunteers could greatly impact the program.  Please contact Cathleen Ito at cathleeni@hfkparish.org.

First Reconciliation and Eucharist  offered to students age 7 and up. Preparation involves both children and parents. All children preparing must be enrolled in parish Faith Formation classes or attend Holy Family Parish School and be registered members of the parish. Volunteers are needed as catechists at our Sunday sessions. This year we are planning on 6 sessions total, about an hour each session. For more information, contact Julie Klinkenberg, juliek@hfkparish.org.

Infant & Child Baptism is the first sacrament of initiation for welcoming children, 0 to 6 years of age, into the faith community.  The Infant Baptism Team provides preparation to help parents understand the meaning of Baptism and its celebration and offers ways to practice Christian parenting.  Infant Baptism is celebrated approximately six times a year at our weekend Masses.  The time commitment is 4 hours for the preparation class and 2 hours (one hour prior to Mass and one hour after Mass) for each Baptism.  For more information please contact Julie Klinkenberg, juliek@hfkparish.org.

HFK Youth Ministries Core Team Members Youth groups run on Sunday evenings from 6pm – 7:30pm after the Sunday evening Mass. We focus on relational ministry and fostering a community where faith based friendships flourish. We attempt to have everything we do be directed back toward Jesus in the sacraments and aim to foster personal relationships with Jesus in the Eucharist specifically.  Both middle school and high school go on a fall and a spring weekend retreat.  We try to provide 1 family event per month to encourage and empower families to grow in faith together.  Volunteers meet once a month for a planning meeting.   For more information contact Cathleen Ito, cathleeni@hfkparish.org.

RCIA for Adults Volunteers for this ministry assist with the process through which non-baptized adults or baptized adults of a different Christian denomination may enter into Full Communion with the Catholic Church. Baptized Catholics who have not received the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation may also join. For more information, contact Julie Klinkenberg, juliek@hfkparish.org.

Parish Library is in the church Common Room off the east narthex.  The library has a diverse collection of books designed to meet the varied interests of readers. Our library volunteers keep our library up to date by sorting and cataloging our collection.  For more information please contact Erin Fields, erinfi@frontier.com.
