Constant encouragement

“Our words and actions should be such as to help us all escape the vicious circles of condemnation and vengeance which continue to ensnare individuals and nations, encouraging expressions of hatred. The words of Christians ought to be a constant encouragement to communion and, even in those cases where they must firmly condemn evil, they should never try to rupture relationships and communication.” — Pope Francis

Reflection: Communion — mystical bonds of connection between people through our loving God — requires love even when there are times of legitimate concern over another’s actions. Have you ever expressed concern to another about something he or she was doing that seemed hurtful to him or her or to others? What was that conversation like? How, if at all, did this affect your relationship with this person?
